Ten most important/ influential photographers?

My knowledge of the history of photography and photographers is a bit weak (read: next to none).

Ansel Adams and Henri Cartier-Bresson are two names that spring to mind if I were asked that question, and the names Terence Donovan and Helmet Newton also spring to mind, although I don't know much about them.

If you were asked that question, who would you nominate?

unfortunateley since having Connie my time for such things has been greatly reduced ... Although I do intend to start it up again!

for me in my areas of interest it would be Ansel Adams for King, followed by the surrealism of Man Ray and I have to say Peter Lik

I don't get much time to read or surf the net, so I'm a bit like you Mark. I would also go with Cartier-Bresson, but I would add Ernst Haas and Sebastiao Salgado too

I can't believe I forgot my favourite music photographer: Francis Wolff. He may not be a "great" but he chronicled Blue Note jazz during the 50s and 60s, as well as producing some of the records and is a great influence on my style of live music photography.
