The Peak

For a place with a name like the Peak district you think it would have the odd peak, stangley enough though, the majority of the peak comprises of high moorland. Kinder Scout and Bleaklow are mighty in size but small in mountain stature, when compared to Snowdonia, the Lakes, and of course mighty Scotland.

However within the upper Dove valley are a couple of splendid looking hills Chrome and Parkhouse. Both have spiny ridges and steep sides befitting a real mountain. Also bear in mind when visiting this area, always refer to it as going to visit The Peak, rather than the Peaks, it tends to get folks backs up :)

Thanks Rob, I'm seriously impressed by the calibre of photography on this forum, some seriously good images taken by some seriously good photographers. Some of the work I have seen has been truly inspirational. Folks seem to be able to push boundries and expression here, without it looking cliched and hackneyed. I'm also very fond of the silver gelatin stuff, and have seriously contemplated going back into it, time is an issue though. I think thats why I have bonded with the X pro 1 so much, its like shooting film again.

Man, the textures are just fabulous - the lighting really brings them out in B&W

And the trees in #2, catching the light against the darker backdrop - lovely stuff

Also the ridge pulling the eye through the frame - that's some beautiful countryside wonderfully captured

Thanks Chris, I'm certainly fortunate to have this amazing space to play in :)

What is it with first pics - first Rob's fantastic rock image and now your first one is simply gorgeous. I also love the fact that the path is not 'level' - makes it so much more interesting and something I will keep in mind from now on.

Marvelous pictures and very well done. I think you'll go nuts visiting the west coast of Norway with its fjords. Enough of comercials.
