The Subway in Zion National Park, USA

This is the last adventure from my June trip to Utah. This time I got lucky and picked up a cancelation backcountry permit to the Subway, in Zion National Park. You’ll soon see why this is such a popular and amazing place.

While not an easy place to photograph, due to the sharp contrast of light and dark, it is still one of the most iconic places in Zion.

What a fantastic environment and fabulous shots again, Dennis. I love the way the plants are clinging on and the way the sandstone has eroded to produce those horizontal plates.

You'll have to come see the southwest sometime.

That red Navajo sandstone the plant are clinging to is about 190 million years old. The mix of geology and biology make the southwest a very fascinating place.
