So I'm seeing a couple of things on a first pass of this excellent collection of images
6x7 camera and 100m lens = about 50mm on 35mm correct?
Narrow DOF to isolate subject on many of the shots - with 6x7 he's using f5.6 in the same way you'd use f2.8 or wider on a 50mm lens on 35mm frame size. The isolation of the subject adds to the creative/artistic nature of many of the images, and they no longer look like 'family snaps'.
De-saturated colour - very noticeable in the first set I viewed, the tonal range is subdued, giving the shots a very distinctive look.
Not sure if this is intentional, or a by-product of the film/processing used?
Isolation of subject (literally) in many shots his daughter is alone in the frame - no other human contact - so it's like viewing a small person all alone in the big world, and I think this adds to the 'story'.
Capturing the moment - although some of the shots are clearly staged, there are many where the moment is captured - the screaming tearful face, the apex of the swing etc.
