Today I had a Baby.............

Hi All,

Today I picked up a "Lensbaby Control Freak" that I won on ebay for not a lot of cash.............. So, I emptied out the drinks cupboard (and didn't touch a drop ) and had a go........... This thing is going to take some practice. My first attempt below, with F2.8 aperture disc and 1/100 shutter............. It has a teeny tiny sweetspot.................. These are straight out of the camera, no pp ...........

Good start Pete. I'm quite fond of the Lensbaby series and tend to use the larger apertures also. I have the Control Freak but use the others more as I like the speed of them. I'm sure you're going to have fun with it though - have you tried using it for portraits yet?

It's going to take some practice but I think it'll be fun. I haven't tried any portrait yet, maybe this weekend I'll see if I can grab some of my daughter and granddaughter (if she will stay still long enough) ...... I'd rather like to get hold of a "Soft Focus" optic for it and I've put a "scout" and fisheye lens on my birthday list.

It is th 3G with the double glass optic

While i was waiting for a takeaway ................ "Maneki-neko". All the Chinese takeaways seem to have these things. Which is bizzarre as they are of Japanese origin........ Anyway it was waving to me.

I think I could get addicted to it........

Shame the D80 won't meter with it ............. But I have a Minolta Meter IV I picked up for £40 and that'll do the job.

The only optic I haven't tried is the Edge 80 - and that will be rectified soon as it appears to be available in the UK at last. Could be perfect for those portraits Paul.
