Not the greatest shot, but I was quite excited as I hadn't seen one of these for years: Trichius zonatus a bee beetle. It just refused to turn round though! Camera shy maybe.

Beautiful! As it happens, we just found it's relative (T. fasciatus) yesterday, in a Dactylorhiza praetermissa flower stalk....

Maybe they are on the increase. I was a Wörlitz Park at the weekend and I cannot remember when I last saw so many Dragonflys and Damselflys - there must be enough prey around which is encouraging.

I had to Google that one. What an amazing insect. It's not camera shy, if you had you M10 it would have posed for you.

It's a really nice photo because we get to see the flower too.
