Time to reveal the mystery optic used in http://www.realphotographersforum.com/forum/threads/a-multitude.16667/. As hinted at the 'optic' is actually a child's toy made of cheap plastic. Light those insect eye viewers the scene is split into multiple images by a vertically faceted plastic 'lens'. I simply held it partially in front of the lens of the RX100 while composing. Here are a couple of views of the unit 'in use'.
