Just for Show View From The London Eye

I wasn't sure whether this should go in the Landscape & Architecture or General forum but seeing as most of it is the backdrop of London, I thought it would be ok here :)

A couple of days ago I took my Fuji X-Pro 1 out to the London Eye. It was a birthday treat for my partner and neither of us had ever been on it before (I'm terrified of heights and had always been putting it off :D).

It was a chance to use the 18-55 OIS lens and also get a feel for the camera. I love using the X-Pro...yes, some bits will take getting used to, like accidently knocking the exposure compensation dial (!) but I think in a few months I will be very comfortable with it.

So this is a shot from inside one of the pods, looking down into London. It was a beautiful time of day and although the composition wasn't great, I'm quite happy with the performance of the lens.

Shane a nice view. I went up not long after it was erected , I expected it to go around faster than it did, yet enjoyed the experience a lot. Not having a camera with me at the time I did look down on the barges thinking what a great view and colours, with the muddy water.
I intended to paint a picture but never got round to it.
Like the split toning you have, deliberate or not, which gives it something different. Interesting pic I have to say.

That's a beauty that is!
It's not somewhere I'd considered as I assumed shooting through curved glass would kill the shot. Now firmly on the list :)

You lucky guy, I wish I could take my Xpro 1 out for its birthday and refer to it as my partner. The wife gets a bit jealous though!

That is certainly one of the most interesting photos (probably the best) of a view from the Eye.

Thanks everyone!

Maybe I was quite lucky with the reflections - there is a tell tale giveaway but I don't think it affects the overall image too badly.

@ Paul - You are actually a lot closer than you think with what you said. It's been a standing joke (sometimes developing into an argument) that my camera (previously my Nikon) is the third person in the relationship :D

Smashing shot, Shane. And I like the split toning, too. However, if that was induced in PP, is that why the white building lower left is a different shade? Not criticizing, just asking. I love the shot!

Hi Brian - yep, it was a type of split toning but I tried not to make it too symmetrical or uniform; that's why (I think) the right hand side is a bit stronger than the left. I always try and do things a bit differently!

Love it - smashing view, very cinematic
