View from the porch (Wide Open Theme)

Pulled this one out from last summer when my folks were visiting us here in the US.

This is a shot of my dad, resting from the heat of the day on the porch of an old ranch house.

I shot this with my (then) new 5D2 using my favorite wide lens, the 28-70 f2.8L - and this one is wide open at f2.8.

Focus is on the subject, then recomposed to put him near one of the 'magic' third quadrants, cropped in a panoramic style.

I used the spot * metering feature on the 5D2 to read the exposure off of the subject before recomposing the final shot.

B&W and tweaks in Photoshop as usual.

I think i have seen this before! :)

Tis a nice shot!!
Id bring a touch more contrast into his face i think .. but that may just be me
the photo somehow looks like it was taken in the US ... but im not sure quite why ... i think thats a good thing!

It's the baseball cap - as soon as he puts it on, he looks like a local over here! LOL

It's now his lucky fishing hat - apparently it's been very successful in luring British fish for some reason...
