Could have done with a wider lens to get more of the beach in shot.

BTW it's the closest I've come to taking candid shots of people.

I like it mate!
if id have had a wider lens id have just tried to get a bit more of his reflection it as opposed to more beach...
I like the fact that the dog is looking back at the camera!

I didn't mind because he was facing away from me, if he was facing me I probably wouldn't have taken the shot.

I actually like the tight crop the 400 has provided - makes the beach a nice abstract pattern

There's a guy in San Diego with the 400mm, has candid shots of women at public events all over his Flickr page - that seems to be his main reason for owning the lens! LOL
