Cracking shots Darren!

I like #1 - I think getting low as you have, so the surfer and wave are at or above your line of site, made for a killer composition.

What happened with that broken lens you had?

The first 2 were taken on my 70-200mm 2.8L mk2 which i'm loving, just so sharp. The rest were taken with the dodgy 400mm 2.8L, not so sharp. I found that the shots i took from quite far away were a bit soft when i zoomed in on the surfer, but if i was closer and the surfer filled the frame more they were ok. I also found it has quite a bit of chromatic aberration out towards the edges, so if I had the surfer off to the side it was very strong with the black wetsuit against the white water. But if i centered the surfer it was ok. Think i just need to get out with it some more and find its limits.

So the final conclusion is just to live with it as a bit of a duffer?
Seems to get good enough results as far as I can see ... As you say, find its limitations and your on to a but of a winner I guess ...
What about getting a TC for the 70-200 that's what I did when I wanted a bit more length
