After seeing Dan's gas mask in the Rape seed field photos me and Lauren thought we would have a go here is the result what do you think?

Yes!! Yes!! Yes!!!!! Now where talking!! Love no# 2! great capture of head body and horizon shot! Bet she wasn't happy with walking away from it all covered in yellow!! Lol. Great effort, great result, you've got my appreciation!!

Knowing how i felt walking through it all in overalls and a gas mask for Dan, i say well done to Lauren for doing it in that dress haha! Very nice twist on Dan's shots, i seem to prefer the close up of the rabbit but both are definitely great shots!
Awesome to see an idea being re-created with someone else's personal touch!

There is not much originality these days Curt, most things along these lines have been done ...

Yeah i suppose you're right Hamish, a shame really, but at least i know when me and Dan thought of it we hadn't seen it before

All photos are like that now-a-days. For A level we have to include inspirational picture for each topic and i don't think anyone has done one picture with out another person taking some sort of idea from it. One person in our class had a go at textures and a week later at least 3 people had included it in their portfolio. I honestly believe no-one is truly original any more.

To be inspired by somthing is a great thing, for both parties ... To see somthing and make it fire some sort of thought process to create something is a brilliant feeling! And of course it is also quite nice to know someone else has been inspired somthing you have done... Or at least it should be a nice feeling!
You both sound as though you feel slightly negatively about it happening? Like there is some "stealing" going on in some way... I shouldn't feel that way, see it as a positive thing! If you spend your life trying to avoid what other people have done before you risk missing out on a lot of enjoyment of creating stuff! If you embrace the possibilty that you can be inspired by anything, I'd say you have a lot more chance of finding your personal niche style ... A lot more chance of creating somthing actually original!
Broad horizons and an open mind have got to be a good thing in any creative persuit
If you imitate or get imitated along the way, try and see the positive side to it ... And let the experience help you grow as a photographer...
Sorry to sound so massively condescending, but what i preach is integral to the what I feel I want to promote in this forum!
Take Dan and Tom, they are obviously inspired by each others work and I think have both got a lot of enjoyment out of that inspiration! I have actually found inspiration in almost everyone photos on here and have got a lot better at what I do for it... It's part of the process, and as i say, can only be a good thing (IMHO)
And yeah, Lauren, there is little originality, especially since the invent of digital... What this means for the world is that the anti has been upped ... It just means that I you do create somthing original then you really have hit gold! Because that gold is harder to find, it should make the search all the more enjoyable ... And the reward far greater!

If Pete will get his bum in gear and post some photos he showed menthe other day of his friends dancing in a bar ... That's probably one of the closest things to "original" I have seen in a while ... Come on Pete!!

I will add an essay to this when I'm not typing on my iPhone, but well said Hamish, nothing is original and that golden ticket of originality is increasingly difficult to gain. It has almost all been consumed many amazing people out there. A man and his dog has been shot countless number of times, but inspires people to shoot the same wearing a pink jacket. Take music for example, remixes, covers, are all on the rise with artists contributing their own niche to the track that was already a masterpiece to begin with!
I felt very positive creating an idea I had in mind, and delivering that idea. But, when my fire was ****** on by Hamish () by him presenting an image very similar to what I thought had not been done, was I disappointed?? No.. Not in the slightest! It's very pleasing to know that there are many creative people out there, and creativity requires inspiration! How boring would life be without them??

I just cant get over the fact that there are others in this world apart from Curt and Dan who have crazy ideas like wearing gas masks in rape fields! I've heard about men and woman meeting by the fruit and veg isles of supermarkets. For those 2 it could happen by the gas mask section in an army surplus store.
