Wow they are stunning! & even more so hand held.
I read your blog about macro photography this morning & found it very interesting & informative. I would like to get a macro lens at some point, but I do already have a Pentax-A 50mm F/1.7. Can you explain what you mean by reversed please? I suspect you literally spin the lens around & mount it back to front? Is there a bracket for this & how then do you use the lens.
Sorry about all the questions, but these photo's are so impresive. Where these taken with the Panagor 90mm F/2.8 as I suspect or any with the A 50mm?
Alfie, these were taken with the Panagor, with the A 50 in front of it reversed. Google "macro reversed lens" and you will get many details! And look at this very interesting youtube stream: An Introduction to High-Magnification Macro Photography - YouTube
Thanks for the interest!
Thank you Pete! No, it's a specimen from the genus Bibio, we call them "March Flies", although they fly in April most of the years. There are several species, amongst which species orange thorax.... But this is a complete black one. This is a male, with the eyes against each-other...Superb Rense. The ants especially. Is that a Robber Fly (Asilidae)? It looks a bit like one. I like the
background. Is it natural?
