With my new macro-rig...

truly stunning work, fantastic detail on them all if not a little creepy looking on the flies.

what is your new macro rig then, any chance of telling us or maybe showing us :-)

Really makes me want a macro lens.......although if i had one i doubt i would get images like this.........!!

Daz

Ooops... had to tell what the rig is, of course! Sorry for that!!!

Pentax K-5 + Panagor 90mm F/2.8 + reversed Pentax-A 50mm F/1.7 + external flash + large diffuser...
I will show some photos of it, as soon as I have some!

Hand Held!!!!!!! You can really go off people you know Rense:mad:....

Don't mind me I'm only a lot jealous:o:p:D.

Exellent shots that I can only dream of...

Wow they are stunning! & even more so hand held.

I read your blog about macro photography this morning & found it very interesting & informative. I would like to get a macro lens at some point, but I do already have a Pentax-A 50mm F/1.7. Can you explain what you mean by reversed please? I suspect you literally spin the lens around & mount it back to front? Is there a bracket for this & how then do you use the lens.

Sorry about all the questions, but these photo's are so impresive. Where these taken with the Panagor 90mm F/2.8 as I suspect or any with the A 50mm?

Alfie, these were taken with the Panagor, with the A 50 in front of it reversed. Google "macro reversed lens" and you will get many details! And look at this very interesting youtube stream: An Introduction to High-Magnification Macro Photography - YouTube

Thanks for the interest!

Extraordinary photos.

These are proper scary! :D

Nice Rense and I thought the video you posted the link to was especially good as well. I might have to get a flash bracket and give it a try again. I have a 1:1 macro lens, a 50mm 1.8 and a reverse adapter and plenty of ruralness around where I live

Superb Rense. The ants especially. Is that a Robber Fly (Asilidae)? It looks a bit like one. I like the

background. Is it natural?
Thank you Pete! No, it's a specimen from the genus Bibio, we call them "March Flies", although they fly in April most of the years. There are several species, amongst which species orange thorax.... But this is a complete black one. This is a male, with the eyes against each-other...
