X-Pro1 RAW processing using Adobe Camera Raw

Chris Dodkin

There has been much discussion around this topic online - so I figured I post a video of my basic ACR workflow for people to view.

Applies to the X-Pro1, but also any ACR raw file processing.

This gets me to the point where I then use NIK filters, so it's not a final product, but the end of RAW processing

Should apply to Photoshop and Lightroom

Comments welcome

Beth - you could do one on your 'combo' processing perhaps?

Where do I send the check!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of all the work I've seen on various forums with the X Pro, I've admired yours the most!

My wife will happily take a check Steve! :D :D :D

It's one approach, lots of options and variations, but it's somewhere to start.

There are things I've learned along the way in there - but I'd be the first to admit there's an infinite amount to learn in this arena

Good demonstration Chris. I had started something similar a couple of days ago and gave up. You have done a far greater job than I could have.

I enjoyed it too. Thank you SO much!! I've been floundering around in the dark for years - first of all scanning slides on the wrong equipment and then not using RAW or Elements properly. I think it was only when I moved to CS5 last Christmas and my husband bought me a book that I started heading down the right path. Mind you... if you look at some other tutorials on the internet, there are people who go in a completely different direction. You've given me more confidence because I use the same tabs in RAW (and the NIK filters of course), although the settings are slightly different.

I wanted to do this in the baby organisation so we could teach one another, but it never happened. I'd be more than happy to see how others are working. (Please don't give up Julian - I've been wanting to ask about your processing for ages) :)

This is brilliant Chris!
Good work! your starting point almost exactly mirrors mine... especially the sharpening/noise reduction bit ...

...its actually quite good to know that others do what I do ... You never know if you might be far off the ball...

Excellent, Chris. Very helpful. Looking forward to your Nik video!

Australian? A mixture of accents in there...

G'day Rob! :D

Apparently to 99% of the locals here I do indeed sound Australian, but I'm from Lincolnshire.

I think I've changed my accent so that I'm understood ;)

Glad I could reassure Hamish :)

Thanks everyone, glad you enjoyed it - it was a bit of a one take wonder with a $5 screen recording App from the Apple App Store, but it came out ok.

I thought your accent sounded strangely familiar but I was sure you are an English :)
