x1.2 Conversion Lens - worth it?

PS Just copied this from the wexphotographic website:

The Sigma FT-1201 Conversion Lens fits on the front of the lens of the Sigma DP3 Quattro to magnify the focal length of the lens by 1.2x, without changing the f2.8 aperture value. It consists of 4 ultra-high quality lens elements in 3 groups, and maintains excellent rendering performance while offering a different focal length (for example, 60mm f2.8 would become a 90mm 2.8) and therefore more shooting possibilities.

Rob ignore my maths but does not 60 x 1.2 = 72, were as the lens in FF terms is already 75mm which gives 90mm f2.8. If you find aprox 20% increase in focal length useful, why not, it apparently performs very well.
There have been a few discussion on this I have read. None inspired myself but am sure some liked the idea and get some use.

I know a few also use the Ricoh GR wide angle converter with success on their DP 1's which provide a 21mm lens. But of course with the Quattros the DPzero negates this as it has the wonderful 14mm(21mm) lens already glued tightly on. .

Ah, yes, a 90mm lens, in effect, would be useful for some portraiture, and f2.8 all the way, which is good.

They are giving me £250 cash back, so I could buy the conversion lens and still have a hundred quid in pocket. Excellent.

Have you considered the size and weight and having extras to carry. That would be my concern only. As for gaining another lens of a very good quality it appears well worth the money.

I would only carry it for a specific project, I imagine. I tend to just go out with one camera at a time, sometimes two. My coat pockets are large enough even for the DP0. They're light cameras, so I'm not too worried. I would like a bag that safely takes all three that I have. I'll have to look into finding something suitable, but as there are now no camera shops in Edinburgh, that might prove difficult.

My only concern would be image quality. You are using the Quattros because of the IQ. Why would you use an add-on that would negatively affect the very reason you bought those cameras? Of course, I'm basing this on the assumption that add-on glass will have a negative effect since I've never heard of any that don't.

As to whether it is worth it to you is something only you can answer.
