During late March, they were selling for at least double suggested retail price. Of course, on March 11, the 9.0 quake shut down the plant north of Sendai where they are made. Within a couple of weeks, they were back in production, but no one knows the level of production—roads were outs, suppliers had problems delivering, delivery of electricity was erratic and so on. My X100 was manufactured before the quake, but then it was lost. A few weeks later, the container was discovered in a storage area in the Tokyo airport.
I do not recall any single camera that generated and sustained the level of interest of this camera. When my camera arrived, the whole sales staff and all the customers in the store gathered around for a look. After five months of use, my level of satisfaction is on par with my D700. I finally have two digital cameras I could live with indefinitely. They compliment each other perfectly.
I would guess the graph says that Fuji is finally catching up with demand. That said, I did browse the sites of the major Canadian stores, and only a couple showed it in stock a couple of weeks back. In Fuji-specific forums, there are still a lot of "Where can I buy one?" threads.
