A Yup From Derbyshire

Lurked for awhile, but I like what I've read, so it's a big hello from me. A former Yorkshireman now living in Derbyshire.

Long time Nikon user, now fully in love with the Fuji x system, using an X Pro 1.

Hey Nick.
Nikon user here too, and have just joined the Fuji club with my new X100s :) Get in!!!
Welcome to RPF!!! :)

Hi nick

I can hardly welcome you as I have only just got here myself, maybe we should have met in the pub and walked in here together, safety in numbers type of thing.

I'm also a Nikon guy, I loved my F's back in the day, and I came back into photography with a D200, I also had a Leica d-lux4, a wonderful little camera, now I'm getting used to a x-pro1. I have found it a camera that forces one to think about it a little more than some modern cameras, which is not a bad thing with me, if I can get away without thinking, I will.

Hi Pete

Seem like a friendly bunch on here, got fed up of the twaddle on a few other forums too much bitching for me. Nikon F still a great camera :) X pro 1 is such a neat little thing, and the quality of the files is just fantastic. One thing Nikon make good tools, but Fuji know how to replicate the look of film, thats for sure. Cannot tell you how much my photography has changed because of this little camera. Its quite funny when someones viewing a 3 foot print and ask what I shot it on, and I show them the X pro, priceless :) If you fancy a trip to the peak let me know, just the other side of Buxton.

Friendly is certainly a good way to describe RPF. Much of my personal work is shot on digital RFs (mainly Leica M9) and my Nikon gear is mainly used for work. I use a range of other formats as well both digital and film. As Rob notes, you have some lovely stuff on your blog. Looking forward to seeing more. Enjoy yourself! :)

Thanks Pete nice to hear.
I'm doing a project about my year in the Dales and was out yesterday but the light was not at it's best, but hey ho.

I will post some images up tomorrow. I would dearly like an X pro 2 with the same sensor but at 24mp. Couldn't care less about much else, I can cope with not so blazing speed. Just retain the file characteristics of the X trans sensor.
Wouldn't mind a go with an M240 maybe one day I will get to own a Leica.

Hi Paul I'm glad you like the X pro it's a seriously good piece of kit, just have to think a little more, I just find it so easy to use. I generally shoot in manual. I do like the quirkyness of it though it's what makes it so good. Just need something a tad wider than the 14mm, a 10 will do but not a zoom. The 55-200 is a great lens but I think the X series were meant for primes. I guess the big zoom will be better suited to the XT 1. Hope it's as good as the specs.

Nick, isn't there a law about defecting over the border? ;-)

Welcome to the mad house - good choice of camera BTW :D
