After the tide went out

Love these Rob- barnacles in crisp detail! I was saying to Chris the other night how coastal areas are my favourite landscapes of all- what a nice find to see this afternoon.

Cheers, Wes. Where we live is quite a tourist hot spot when the sun comes out, so it’s often hard to avoid people in shots. But when I took these it was early in the day, a very sunny morning, and I had the area to myself. I’d hesitate to call it a beach. Although with close-ups it’s easy to block out people, I find it hard to concentrate with people around. I used to walk for miles, but these days I have a post viral exhaustion that kicks in after half an hour, so I rarely get to the off-the-well-beaten track places I would love to get to. But I recognise I am lucky to have this area on my doorstep.

I love the lens on this camera. Although it’s a fixed lens, you can turn it into a macro lens very easily. They call it macro, but it is more “close up”, which I prefer.

I hope you get out to the coast again soon.
