B/W Insects.

Normally when I process my nature shots I leave 'em colour but I thought I'd try a couple of B/W for a change.

Just a couple of shots you've seen before because I had them handy:).

I really must take some new shots:o.

ok, I'm totally creeped out now - very powerful images in B&W

Eeeeewwwwwwwwww...... :(

I think the B&W works really well on these, probably because we rearely see this sort of shot in anything but full colour, I particularly like the second shot

Great Photos...
I hesitate to ask what is going on in #2...Is this some strange new yoga position or, considering #1, some sort of insectile Kama Sutra...?

You know this is the second time on this forum we have seen photos of flys doing the nasty ... What's with that???

The black and white does work for me, not somthing you expect to see or even work for the subject matter ... But it seems to!!
I think it's the way it renders the textures that makes it work ... And the fact that like Kev says its just not somthing you see often!

I do like those Hamish ............ I think while we have some rubbish weather I might try some Macro shots.

Hi Glenn,

Can you tell me the set up you used for these wonderful shots?
I also have a Tamron SP Di 90MM Macro but am not sure how to achieve more magnification with this lens.

Austin there was no special setup for these. Just the Tamron 90mm macro lens on my Canon 450D, hand held as close as I could get and then cropped a bit on the computer to make them look a bit closer.
