Dan Down - The Steampunk Womble
You would not believe what and why were doing this.
It was freezing, the snow was as deep as a meter in some places, and the winds were the strongest winds I've ever come accross.
Yet, we we all lying in the snow, wind, and cold, waiting patiently to escape.

The great about urban exploring us that it keeps you on your toes by throwing in many spontaneous surprises. Like this one.

We went to Derbyshire to explore the depths of the urban world around there, some of it was a fail, some of it was a success. I/we were extremely gutted that we never got into some particular mines due to high security but needless to say we had fun.

This location of the shot was at Willington Cooling Towers just south of Derby. We got kitted up, found an easily pre made access onto the grounds if the towers, in fact, there were 2 right next to each other...... Simples! :)

We had a good little mooch around the place and took many of photos.
I of course had taken the OM10, so I need to get a move on with deving.

We spent a freezing, windy hour there. Then came the farmer (3 of them in fact) to feed their sheep..... Oh, and did I mention we had to access via his/their field? ,'/ lol

It was a bit of a cat and mouse game, and difficult as it were to manoeuvre out through a 1 meter high snow dunes! Lol.
Whilst we were hiding and ready to bolt, I saw this oppotunity to remind ourselves what batterings we were going through by the wind and snow as we patiently waited to flee.

I think the only think keeping us remotely warm was the adrenaline pumping......Loved every minute of it. Lol.

After about half an hour we saw the chance and got back to the car. Phew!!
Heating on and let's get outa here. Lol

KK Shakes head in a despairing manner not too dissimilar to Christian Horner after Vettels win yesterday......[doh]

DD you are reaching the dizzy heights of total madness...........but love it.........;)

That's a great shot, and good story to go with it. Did someone forget their gloves? Must have had cold fingers!

Excellent Dan. Great story and a super shot to go with it. So much better as she(?) is not looking at the camera but away past you.

Thanks Pete, that's why I like this shot so much, because he is not looking at the camera, and of course the memories to go with it. Lol

I know! This is my last blow out for a while as number 3 is due today.... It was mad enough for me to win a debate with the wife and saying it was perfectly acceptable to go out risking my life by Urbexing in the snow 120 miles away from home ,'/
It all turned okay.

brilliant story, made me chuckle ALOT Photo is pretty dam great to............

You're nuts Dan! :D

Great shot - love the low angle - real urban warfare feel

Don't know why but it reminds of the old Patrick Swayze Red Dawn, which I believe has just been remade, except I don't remember if there were any snow scenes in that film:confused:, as I haven't seen it for years;).
