The "Road Zipper" on the Golden Gate Bridge doing the morning lane adjustments (reverting from the morning rush to the normal lane assignments).

Rob, it moves the gray blocks the width of one lane. The bridge has three lanes of traffic in each direction and the gray blocks are in the middle of the bridge separating the two directions of traffic. In the morning, the machine moves the gray blocks over one lane - thereby increasing the number of lanes on one side of the road (in the morning more lanes for the city inbound traffic).

The image below shows the "normal" traffic with three lanes in each direction

Like Rob said, learn something new every day. And like Rense said, I love the colours.

Amazing John and very informative. My first idea , it was a bullet like train running on a magnetic track which took foot passengers across. I understand the Ripper part now which is very apt.

Cool shot and even cooler machine. I had no idea there was an automated "jersey wall" installer.
