Close though in a way! After all one is in fact swinging the lens... Only the camera is moving too, but depending on the stitching method it can come out distinctly similar to one of those cameras. I don't own one though...
I expect you found it but the issue I was referring to was the gentle colour shift from one side to the other, seemingly an artifact from stitching.
