I've had a rubbish day and tomorrow's not looking good either. Never mind...

Three nights trying to process this. A grab shot as I was walking along Curbar Edge. Clouds were gathering and the light in the valleys was fading. No time to set up the tripod and in fact, when I did later, I was driven away by a horde of midges. They eat me at home when we're cleaning the chicken run and it was no better here. This single exposure was the best of the bunch and I was able to recover shadows and highlights

It is difficult in such light to get exposure right for foreground & background (without grads).

Very lovely light rays - well worth the midge bites

I;d have gone straight to B&W and would have missed the wonderful color version
