Dpi question

Dots per inch - the online printers I'm looking at say I should send a tif with 300dpi. Now, is dpi the same as pixels per inch? I'm trying to find where the dpi info is in Elements, but just get ppi. Somehow I feel I should know this by now!

Pixels per inch is more accurate, but DPI and PPI are used interchangeably. DPI has its origins in photomechanical reproduction with printing presses. Pretty much everything to do with resolution is confusing, since the same terms are used in several unrelated contexts. See

300 DPI/PPI are the usual resolutions quoted for printing, but a very wide range can still produce good prints.
