This magnificent area where the city states, like Priene, Miletus flourished as centers of trade, science and astrology in the ancient times, do still reflect the grandeur. The plains below were once part of the Aegean Sea, now filled with the soil brought with the deforestation created by the warring civilizations of the past.

The disappearance of the sea was the beginning of the decline as the sea trade disappeared, following malaria brought by mosquitoes of the swamps that used to be the trading harbors of these city states was completely de-populated by the medieval times.

An epic shot! Brilliant. It really invites you in, leading your eye and your curiosity to the far horizon. The fallen column makes you wonder about the cultures of the past...and what will happen to ours. Great photo, Nihat!

Grand! Those fallen columns speak to the grandeur of the past and they still have it. That's why I used the word grand. Grand architecture and grand fotie, Nihat!

Thank you very much, Paul. I think, because the source is my blog, anytime I post to a different community at Google+ it registered on my blog. I can manual delete those later, which I did. If I post at RPF after deleting those, I'd think we will nor have those repeats.
