Frustrating to say the least, shooting in RAW with a 10sec exposure and 10sec to write to card. Lightning stirkes always seemed to hit while writing to card, meanwhile the guys next to me are getting great shots.

I can imagine that it is not the easiest thing to do so that you have actually got something is a good sign. The last one works, I don't know what software you have but a local highlight adjustment or judicious dodging could really bring the lightning out maybe? I think the last worked our better because you are not photographing an area of sky that is washed out with a lot of light pollution.

I discovered that turning off the Long Exposure Noise Reduction reduced the write time for a 10sec exp from 10sec down to 2sec. Just need another big storm to try again.
