Critique Welcomed First roll with the new Olympus Trip!

Ran a roll of Fujichrome Provia 400x through my new Trip for my trial run with this thing. I am really out of practice with film... and trying to use a point & shoot "rangefinder" on top of that really put me out of my element. The Trip seems like an ideal street photographer's tool, so naturally the first thing I did with was to... shoot ARCHITECTURE! :D

Took these while running an errand downtown the other day...

Of course, I did try my hand at some candid street photography, as well...

Maybe I'm just too used to digital now, but the Provia 400x seemed a lot more grainy than I remembered it from before. I've got a roll of Provia 100 in there now, so we'll see if that changes anything.

Well, out of practice or not, that's a damned fine set Darren. I like especially the head in the hedges and the grain adds quite some atmosphere to it. I also like the shot of the couple - they look as though they are about to swing into a dance routine! Did they?

some very nice shots there, I rather like the zig-zag tower (the perspective does something funny to my eyes, in a good way) and the fat dog with the lead snaking off into the shadows.

BOOM! Right on the money with the first roll Darren - very nice

#1 almost looks as good as one of your T&S shots! ;)

Love the angles in the upward looking architectural shots

Those shade squares give a great effect - like it's blurred, but it isn't - optical illusion

Nice Darren! What's happening I the one with the big squares on the pavement? I can't get my head around what I'm looking at?

Thanks, guys!
@Pete: No, I don't think they were dancing. They were walking at the mall and noticed me just as I snapped the shot. The head in the hedge shot is one of my favorites from that roll, too. Thanks for the nice words!
@Andrew: Cheers! I'm always happy to mess with someone's eyes!
@Brian: Thanks, mate!
@Chris: Thanks! I actually climbed up on top of the wall of the apartment building across the street to give myself some elevation and be able to hit that building with the camera level. Got some strange looks and a curious inquiry from some nice security officers for my troubles! I was happy to discover the shades... I took several shots of those, trying to figure out the best way to play with them.
@Dan: I didn't know we were starting already!
@Hamish: Thank you, sir! Those squares are shadows that formed on the pavement of the local mall, due to some sunshades that are strung up above my head. They formed a checkerboard pattern on the ground that I liked, so I grabbed a shot as I was walking through there with the family.

It's very effective... Makes you question what you are looking at ... Especially with the mysterious almost stationery looking figure obscured by the shade ... It's a great shot that one I think!
