Half an hour ago in the garden

I never get the clarity I'm looking for in macro mode. I'm sure it's my technique rather than the X100, as others seem to do better. Any advice welcome...

love #1 great image

I like them Rob and I don't see too much wrong. The first three are super and the last one is spot-on (love the spider silk!). You're lacking a tiny bit of depth of field on the Dandylion and the other flower and leaf are not quite sharp - maybe a tripod would help as these look like they have some camera shake associated with them. But artistically I like them all.

Rob loving the dandelion shots - fantastic lighting

Can you remember the aperture on the flower shots - wondering about the setting and depth of field?

For example I know if you go to f2 on the X100 it's always soft in Macro mode - just a 'feature' of the lens/camera

Thanks, Peter.

Chris, I was on auto for macro. I forgot what you told me once before, that the X100 is soft focused in that mode, and that I might try 2.5. I'll try to remember next time!

Cheers,

Rob

Catches me out every time Rob!

Dandelion shots are my favorites, too. The X100 is not the first camera you'd think of using for macro photography, but it seems to do a nice job. Well done! I quite like the treatment of the light, too.

Be curious to see the same thing with the X-pro 1 and the 60mm...
