Yes, but the metering area varies depending on the lens fitted!! So at one extreme it is virtually a spot meter and at the other is averages the whole scene!! Based on what you see through the viewfinder if you see what I mean.

ive noticed load of cameras that have odd metering
the voigtlander r2a has a very odd metering pattern it would seem ...
and im thinking the fuji does too!

But they're the sort of cameras one grows into if you see what I mean. So you soon learn to merer correctly for a give situation I find and is another reason I rarely shoot in any mode other than manual (if there is even a choice).
