Landed (P195)

Taken using the same lighting as used for Netted but with a reflector and using the surface of the book to bounce light back into Ina's face. Looking for a sort dark wintery evening in look.

Hasselblad 503CW + Distagon 50mm f 1:4.0 at 1/250s at f1:4.0 onto a PhaseOne P20 Back (ISO 50). Initial PP in CaptureOne Pro. Main PP in PS / Nik ColorFX 4 (B&W conversion 20% opacity, Film Grain 400px, Glow 70% warm, Levels and Curves, Vignette small with 20% opacity). Adjustment and output from LR. No sharpening applied.

Cracking tones!! You've certainly achieved why you hoped IMO. And I like that you've stated 'no sharpening applied' coz that image so doesn't need it... Looks great as soft as it is. Very good pete

Thanks Dan. The P20 (and P45) don't have antialiasing filters and so you don't need to do any raw sharpening. I often do an output sharpen but in this is case I didn't (although if I print it I will apply a tiny amount) as the output JPEG was just about right I thought..

Has an 'old master' feel about the tone and shadow - very nice

Pete,...what Chris said is exactly what I was thinking when I saw the image. Except, although I couldn't remember the expression "old master", the first thing I thought was: Rembrandt!

Very nice,...and what a provocative--or maybe "challenging" is a better word--look on the model's face.

Love it!

A fine photo. My eye tells me that a little more space over her head would add to it, but I'm not sure. I'd have to see it first! I love this kind of lighting. I do it a lot with window light.

Thanks Gary. It was shot exactly as is with no cropping and I'd kept the framing tight like that as I wanted to maintain an almost claustrophobic feel to the scene. Certainly 'Old Masters' was in my mind when I set the lighting up Chris and Brian: Rembrandt was indeed my reference!

And what c a I say about the model! Willing and with wide repertoire!!

This session was, in part, the precursor to a continuation of the 'Enigmatic' series we started last year but mainly for a series I have in mind of stills from 'lost' movie films of the '40's. The abstract legs were a bonus and emerged while Ina was relaxing between shots etc while reading her book.
