LED? Front projection images (conferences, presentations, etc)

first time to come across this device, though I am sure it won't be the last. essentially I had to shoot a series of presentations, and after a series of tests, established that manual white balance was best, though still far from perfect. the slides used were single static images.

so along comes our guy, the screen looks white to the naked eye but I get a series of variations of this

and it's only his slide, that performs in this way. everyone else' slide is recorded close to the original. when I say a series of variations, it's every colour of the rainbow. except white, naturally...

seems as though the projector cycles through a series of colours which altogether make white. is that sensible?

the only thing I recall doing differently on these shots was a much higher shutter speed eg 1/500th/1000th as opposed to everyone else' 1/100th (because they stood in the shadows, where our guy stood front & centre) so the cycling thing seems to make sense, because I had captured a part of the cycle?

Yep - stop down and keep the shutter speed slow to capture the full color cycle
