Lions are always going to be popular subjects for photographers in Africa and I just followed the tourist pack when we got close to lions. I still have lots to learn about using my camera well and photographing wildlife, back home I usually stick to landscapes (easy as they don't move around) and pets (captive targets).
These 4 were taken in a small park which has a captive breeding programme. These are young females which are used to people walking nearby and played obligingly while we walked just a few metres away. I was still hiding behind my safety screen of using my camera on Auto
This magnificent beast had been sleeping but decided to clear off when he got surrounded by jeeps. The photo on the right doesn't have the grasses in front of his head but it looks a bit overexposed to me
We came to a big family group of young lions resting and playing in the shade of a tree. I liked the one that looks like he is chewing on a pipe but eventually realised he was chewing a cape buffalo horn, all that remained of last nights supper
Above their heads were these young males, one of them seeming to have great difficulty working out how to get down the tree
What a poser this young male was. But is my exposure right?
