Man Crossing

DP1M. Shame about the white vans, but I like the man's shadow and placement. For Edinburgh landscape watchers, do note the new tram lines and overhead wires - cost a bloody fortune, but was it worth it? The jury is out.

Overhead tram lines,...? Back to the future we go. There are no cars on that street. Are passenger cars prohibited there? That chap looks like he's had a snootfull. I love street scenes like this, Rob. Fifty or a hundred years from now those white vans take on a different meaning and this image shows what Edinburgh past was like. (Assuming people can get the image out of its by then defunct and obsolete storage medium.)

I think only delivery vans are allowed in there now, Brian. It has all been one heck of an upheaval, and the budget quadrupled over five years. The trams go from here (that's Princess Street at the bottom) out to the airport.

Your comment about the potential for all images to be lost forever is timely, as I'm contemplating getting a half-decent printer. All but a tiny proportion of my images exist only in digital form. The problem is, good photo printers tend to be A3, and therefore large, and we have no room. SWMBO is not happy about something so large coming into an already cluttered house. It is so expensive to get good-quality archival prints made by post.

A fine documentary shot Rob and the shadow is nice indeed. Interesting point raised by Brian as well. The pessimist in me tells me we are living in a digital dark ages. What will endure?

Shoot film! :)
