New to the Canon high end 'snappy-cam' range, is the 14.1 MP SX150 IS.
http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/digital_cameras/powershot_sx150_is#Overview
Available in black and red, comes with a 12x optical zoom, and a useful widest angle of 28mm (equiv). f/3.4 (W) - f/8.0 (T) - Built-in pop up flash.
This is a bridge between the low end of the digital market, and the G12 and up - and provides some very useful features in a small package.
Built-in IS, large 3" LCD, Smart AUTO mode, ISO 80 to 1600, HD Video (720p) - the feature list is long - and the price is not cheap at $249.99 list.
Image quality looks excellent though:
Runs of AAs, which makes in the field battery replacement easy - but note it only does 110 shots on a pair of normal AAs!!
Should be shipping after this weekend: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-PowerShot-SX150-Digital-Camera/dp/B005I8XM5E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314392466&sr=8-1
