Publicity Shot

I've got another guitar book being published, and have been asked to supply a small photo for the "artist's blurb" in the back of the book, which will be printed black and white.

The only digital camera I have is the first camera I had when I landed on this forum, the Canon G10 PowerShot. I set it on a tripod, and set the timer.

What do you think? I've sharpened it for printing.

Or tinted?

I like the first one more and the portrait that actually shows how you love the guitar or is amused of being photographed as if you are flattered. Almost like a young girl about to giggle. I am not mocking you, honestly, that's how the image appears to me.:) It is a very good portrait albeit I like a more direct approach where you can see who you really are. Also the rim of the guitar and your collar go well together. Make some more Rob, just to let us see a more direct approach to what you do and represent.

Hi Rob Ild like to give my tuppence worth if I may.
I think your hand looks to large with the distortion of the lens and possibly the crop. also theres a jacket or something behind your hand that seems to add to the effect it just don't look right to me sorry.

Lol, Martin, I have very big hands and a very small brain - that's not lens distortion :D Thanks for your comments. Too late, I'm afraid. The publisher has gone with it. But it's only going to be a very small photo at the inside back cover. The world will not end ;)

Lol they are big is the book a teaching style book or historical history of guitar that sort. I was never musical myself but my daughter is teaching herself the guitar and piano and if I do say she seems to be doing a good job at present.

He's a freak, Martin. :)

Everyone who contributes here is a freak. We are drawn to each other

Martin, I have a contract with an American publisher, Mel Bay, for three books for guitar in the unusual tuning of DADGAD - that's the names of the notes of the strings. It's a popular tuning with acoustic guitar players. I've done two of the books, one to go, but none of them are out yet, and I don't know when they will be. Sometime this year, I think. Each book comes with a CD of me playing all the pieces. So, actually haven't been contributing much here of late, and that's one of the reasons.

Thats great love the selfie lol as I said I'm not musical at all so I probably would not be able to tell if it was unusually tuned Rob. Good luck with the third book.
