Very crisp Darren - amazed you were able to get so close.

AI Servo and f8??

to be honest Chris i used setting recommended from a low flying plane forum as i live in the Mach Loop a busy training area for the RAF who fly real low down & fast down this narrow steep sided welsh Valley (search you tube for Mach Loop) Now these setting are given as a guide and are totally customizable & are probably more suited to the guys who sit on the mountains side watching the planes fly past & fast as some rate of knots.

Saying that they worked well for my time at valley even though the planes were landing, taxi & not really that fast a speed.

1. ISO: 400
2. Camera Mode: Shutter-speed Priority (Tv)
Shutter Speed: 1/1250th Second (Jets) / 1/250th (Props)
3. Focus Points: Nikon Dynamic AF / Canon All Active
4. Auto Focus Mode: Continuous (AI Serv)
5. Drive Mode: Multi Shot
6. Metering Mode: Matrix / Canon Evaluative
7. File Format: Large JPEG
8. White Balance: Auto (AWB)

I have saved these settings on C1 on the top Dial of the 7D for my air show in July...........!!

will do mate, there aint alot to it.......i haven't ventured onto the mountain side.......i dont do hills, but i know where they all sit & wait.............lol

Darren - that's a great settings list

Only thing I'd add is to dial in +2/3 to +1 stop exposure comp if you're shooting against a bright sky

Saves you getting a dark aircraft, and means you need less post processing after the fact
