Romantic Stroll

Lovely minimal composition Paul. Very elegant.

I very much like the portrait orientation for a scene that would otherwise seem to lend itself better to a landscape orientation. Mind you, if you had made it in landscape mode and then removed all the trees from the horizon as well as the ducks and the definition in the clouds, it would have been a surefire Gursky-esque multi-million dollar picture at any art auction. Sorry you missed out on that, Paul.;))

love the comp, the ducks make it - nice grad at the top to bring the sky in

Cheers Chris. You spotted the grad, it is not too obvious, or does it looked well balanced balanced to you?
Love it - I'd have done the same thing

Cheers. Reading stuff is dangerous, I am reading a book where the author wrote that he doesn't like it when the use of a grad is obvious. I guess what he means is that the effect should be subtle but I have been a bit paranoid about using grads ever since. Probably just need not to take what I read too seriously, thank god I don't read the Sun or the Daily Mail.

I agree with that sentiment - I try and do things that Joe Public would not see and think 'Oooo, there's a gradient' - Doesn't mean another photog wouldn't see it though :)

The first shot I saw that made me look at buying NIK, was a shot that Lesley posted of London - I stared at it for ages trying to work out how the image managed to show detail in a shaded area under an arch, yet retained detail in a brightly lit area in the same frame.

That's when the penny dropped that she'd clearly done something to make it all happen, and that's when I went looking at NIK.

I do like NIK but oddly don't find myself using it that much. We managed to by Colour Efex on an Education discount because Kerri works in a school. Shortly afterwards Google said we could have the whole lot for free, Bonus!
