Sardinia trip

Just popping in to post a couple of pictures from our recent week in Porto Cervo, Sardinia.

This one was taken on a day trip to the island of Isola Caprera, reachable by car ferry and then a bridge. Weather that day was atrocious, a slight break in the rain allowed me to get this shot in. An amazing place of great natural beauty, actually:

This was in the marina of Porto Cervo, a bit of a millionaire's playground actually, massive boats owned by Russian oligarchs, and Ferraris on the quayside:

A few more shots at the link below, including a lovely little church, some big boats and yachts, a local vineyard, and doors and windows from our very charmingly designed hotel:

Really nice shots there, Tim. Lovely shots in the link, too. That canopy of trees is pretty amazing looking in that first shot above, Well done.

That's 1st shot is superb! MANY MANY photo possibilities in and around that!

Thanks all, yes the first one is the one I like best - stopped the car, got the shot, and by the time I was back in the car it was raining again. In the right light, it would be quite a magical spot to photograph, I did my best with composition and PP but didn't really have the light.

At the car ferry terminal getting there it was lashing with rain, really torrential, like being at Dover!

Nice shots Tim
those trees are strange ...
Theres a book called "life of pi" by Yann Martel, odd book, I love it but I'm not sure everyone does... Anyway, but in it where he ends up on this mangrove island in the middle. Turns out to be carnivorous or somthing ... Anyway, he is safe in the canopy from memory... Those trees popped that bit of that book into my head as that's exactly what I saw when I read it!

I agree and the trees really make it for me. Quite an exotic look and I see what you mean Hamish (they are Umbrella Pines - Pinus pinea - by the way - where the nuts come from) - and a good book too. They've made a film of it - goodness knows how that will work! I like the way the road leads you in but you can't see where.
