Thanks for the comments guys
Yes there was a bit of fill from an on camera speed light. I normally prefer to carry a battery powered Monolight with soft box or beauty dish but this particular location requires I pay and pull a permit to put stands on the ground which is not an issue other than I did not have the lead time available for me to permit this session as the client wanted the shoot on short notice and as the property is a privately held resort the process is SLOW.
As for poses the subject is not really a model, he simply wanted photos for dating sites and as gifts to his mom and family. So I felt he managed to do a pretty good job of staying relaxed and following direction in a situation where the truth is the poses are typically physically awkward and uncomfortable. Add in the public venue and I felt he did good enough I forwarded his photos on to a friend of mine at a local agency and they will be picking him up and adding him to their roster of aging baby boomer males which is actually a pretty good demographic for a male model to be in today.
Given some practice, instruction and experience I think he will do quite well as a model but at the time these were taken he was just an average Joe.
I could clone the small highlight off the tip of the nose though. I doubt I will revisit the images, it is minimal enoug that I dont see me worrying about it
