The best of British summer may have passed, but it is never to late to go sun seeking further afield.

Alongside food poisoning and jetlag, taking photographs is an essential part of the holiday experience.

But airlines' less-than-generous luggage allowance means you may have to make difficult decisions about which camera to take.

Is the the extra weight and bulk of an SLR camera worth the hassle? Can holiday snappers get away with a decent mobile phone camera? Or would a compact offer the best of both worlds?

BBC journalist visits my local wildlife park in San Diego, and compares cellphone cam, snappy cam and DSLR, as a tourist.

Looks like they did the Photo Safari package, which is well worth it if you're ever visiting the SD Safari Park.

They have her well trained to pop up over the back of the truck you're traveling in - looking for her favorite snack, acacia leaves.

Given that the Wild Animal Park is such a huge tourist trap, I've never understood why they don't sell cameras etc on-site - you'd think it would do a good trade.

Joe upgrade, Mrs I forgot my camera, Mr I need a longer lens etc etc, gazillions of extra memory cards - missed opportunity IMHO
