Would a 16x9 sorta shape crop not help...

Why a 16x9 crop - to include the sun?

The sun isn't in the photo but was above the reflection in the water above the pelicans.

Nice capture Mark, love the silhouette look - I think Hamish was suggesting a 16x9 ratio crop ie a Widescreen look, to crop out some of the sky above the birds from the image
