No, I think it works well this way. Because one often reads images left to right I think this way rounds adds to the slightly unreal feel to the image. And your eye stays with the main boat rather than flowing towards the horizon for some reason. Maybe it is because the shapes looks a bit like a face without the writing. Also the eye doesn't flow up towards the horizon but down into darker tones.

if you are in a position to look at it upside down Julian, it just snaps into reality... I've done it on my iPhone a couple of times this morning. Else the original is a few images back on Flickr and on here somewhere
