wood soft release buttons

an interesting internet shop selling handmade wooden soft release buttons. i've already got a couple of nice brushed metal ones for the fujis so i won't be ordering one, but they look pretty nice.

The ebony one looks gorgeous - I wonder how well they'd hold up to use/abuse?

the ebony and the verawood caught my eye, but the ebony would be the one i'd get for the fujis. only the smaller button will fit the fujis for some reason.. not really feeling the argyle.

possibly some sort of self tapping arrangement? with the wood being softer than the screw

A sort of double-ended screw then. I wondered if there was some sort of plate or collar under the button to stabilise it / locate it to the tapered thread that goes into the cable release but you can't see from the photos. I have no real interest in buying one but was curious.
