X-t1 - It's Here!

OK, now I'm feeling sick. I don't want to come here no more - boo, sob, etc

Seriously happy for you, Nick. These shots are fantastic. Really great, especially the first. Inspiring.

Am I wrong to assume that you would not have achieved the same result with a X-E1 Nick?. They are great pictures, but static, so..... I do believe you when you give us all the other assets as , great viewfinder etc... My X-E1 after last update, I find quite fast and reliable. Nah don't tempt me too much eh?

Hi Ivar yes the images are static and of course you can achieve the same on the XE1, however I sometimes need good af focus tracking and that cannot be done on earlier models. I didn't put any up of the tracking test I did, as I am only working on my ipad at the moment. Suffice to say its mighty quick and seemingly very accurate.

I have just seen Michael Reichmanns viewpoint and albeit not having held the camera in my hands, I still cannot agree to his viewpoints Pete. But he emphasizes that his viewpoints are subjective. If he wants as he says it, why does he not set it for automatic ISO and adjust it from low to the max he wants. He can also as I understand it set an FN knob / dial to switch to another kind of measurement as spot which he here mentions and by having focuspoints spread " all over " the viewfinder and by a flick of the shutter dial or aperture ring he should be able to achieve exactly what he claims he can't and very swiftly too. So honestly I do not see his point. I can even do that on my x-e1. The histogram however is another story. I on the other hand do not use it since by setting the aperture and being able to see what I get in the viewfinder, I feel there is no need coming from film and slides.

Some interesting observations from Michael Reichmann at Luminous Landscape:

Read it several days ago Pete, the point about the custom grouping I agree with, I think we may see a firmware upgrade giving us that option. Personally I dont like too many programmable buttons as I forgot what they do. My only other wish is for a disable video button mode. As this button is quite close to the shutter button, I can see why they put it there, but its a pain if you accidently trip it, hey ho another firmware job.

As to blinking highlights I have had this on every Nikon camera for several years and never used the feature. With the wysiwyg evf you can see your exposure changing as you operate the aperture or shutter dials in real time. So really makes the blinking highlights a bit well ....... out of date. As well as the live exposure view, you also get a small histogram in the corner of the screen, tbh how much more info do you need to know your exposure is off.

I would suggest that viewing images on a screen gives us little information as to how good the cameras capabilities are. I would imagine the only true test would be to take images at the same settings on each camera, of the same subject, and at the same time. Then print them out at same resolution, through the same printer and compare the prints. Just my tuppence worth.

I think you are perfectly right Tom and honestly, there wouldn't be that much of a difference between the x factors from Fuji. Just difference of tools and how to handle them. That's my guess for all it's worth.
