Welcome (almost) to the club! You are going to love it. Just check it has the latest update, as they have changed quite a bit since the first edition, each time getting better.

Excellent. The X100 is a fitting sibling to the X10 and I didn't fully appreciate how good it was until after I sold it.

Titch, the X10 refurb from Fuji UK, made me realise what a plonker I was to sell the X100 so now he has a sister, Madame Noir.

When I had the first one I fitted the GGS 3" screen protector from Amazon and found it excellent so both the X10 and the X100 have this inexpensive but highly effective protector fitted. I also bought the silver hood/adapter combo from Amazon for a fraction of the OEM cost.

The original X100 was a Fuji UK refurb which was as new, as was the X10, so the current offer of £499 minus 10%(10% off code p10feb15) makes it an exceptional buy.

Enjoy!

just trying to get my head around the focal length of the lens on this camera

23mm F2 Single Focal Lens Equivalent to 35mm

so does that mean that it would be at 23mm on my X10, just so i can try get my head around it or am i missing something here

cheers in advance for any input

Daz

The short answer is no, because X10 has a much smaller sensor than X100.

This is my attempt to explain this...

If I confuse you even more, hopefully other more knowledgeable members can help out ;)

Jim is perfectly correct, however, as far as I can see, the scale on the zoom ring of the X10 shows 35mm format equivalent focal length. The X100 has a 23mm native focal length which is equivalent to 35mm on a 35mm forma camera. So if you set your X10 to 35mm it should show the same subject magnification at a given distance. The confounding this is that the sensors have different aspect ratios; it will be similar at 16:9 but at its maximum 'resolution' (4:3) the picture size will be different.

Thanks :).

So the summary of all that is to set the focal length to 35mm on your X10 ;).

This might have worked but I am a technical pygmy and thus if there are two blanks......

These were taken from my patio over the magnificent Vyrnwy Valley, in Gods Country.

The first is the X10 at the 35mm mark on the lens, the second the X100.

The X10 is a tad wider because of the aspect ratio as stated by Pete.

"I am a Berliner....." Bless the crowds, they loved it and were ecstatic at his address (as told by my Dad who was there on duty with the Army.)

A Berliner is a disgusting deep fried ( as in Mars Bars ) dough ball coated in sugar. I never ever tried one.........
