    Giant Spider

While walking along one of the paths in the hills around Taipei, Taiwan I came across a very large spider. The span of the legs was greater than my hand with fingers spread out -- a very BIG spider. It was just finishing its meal. Notice the small baby (???) spiders crawling...

    Pandas

Another stop on my China visit was in Chengdu (Chengdu is the start of the Silk Road). Here they have a Panda Research Center (one of four or five in the country). The Giant Pandas are the main attraction, but they also have the less timid and more active Red Pandas.

    Derwent Dam

This is the dam that the RAF (Squadron 617) used in 1943 to practice/develop their bombing skills for the "Bouncing Bomb" (there was also a movie made about the operation - "The Dam Busters", 1955). The RAF still uses this area for low level runs, but not when I was visiting.

    Twins??

These young calves were very friendly (yet cautious - they would let me get only so close; and I made sure mom was not anywhere near). Even at a young age, they are fitted with their Swiss cow bells.
