Tech Support (and Marketing)
I thought it might be nice to have a photography competition ...
With a twist...

This a film photography competition!

You have a maximum of £10 to spend ...
That £10 must buy you a camera AND a roll of film
You can spend what you like on getting it processed/processing (ie chems are not part of the budget) but after that
No post process is allowed
No cropping

You can't use a camera or film you already own
It has to be bought especially for the challenge

If you aren't used to film photography and don't have te means to scan negs, most d&p shops will scan them for you!

From the roll of film you are only allowed to enter three shots

The overall winner will be decided by vote by the collective

If you need help finding a camera, that is fine, just ask in this thread!
eBay is your friend!

There is a prize!
The winner gets an Real Photographers Forum mug and his/her 3 photos in the header AND AN OLYPUS TRIP 35 CAMERA
Info on this legendary camera can be found here http://www.olympus-trip.co.uk/
Second and third prize get one each of thier photos in the header!

The closing date for this competition is Jan 20th 2012!
So get hunting for a camera! :)

Brilliant idea, does the £10 include delivery as well or is that not included like processing?
This has me really quite excited!

Just another rule ...
If you buy it and it doesnt work then you can buy another ...
If you buy a camera and it works and you put a film through it and the shots come out ... thats the roll you have to choose shots from!
Basically, its an exercise in thinking about each shot as much as poss!
Maybe a touch inspired by my reading about Bresson ;)

Shot my self in the foot here ... the camera i was thinking of choosing, the nikon L35 af sells for £10 on ebay, leaving me £0 for film!

Im now thinking maybe a Yashica minister ... or similar ... bit more manual control :)

Hamish - you need to get someone to donate you some film - problem solved! ;)

So, with the exchange rate, that's around $16 to spend....

Hehe just found a Nikon TWAF for £7.99 that should leave me with £2.01 for a roll..........that should be within budget and no shooting toes off :D

Assume you're thinking camera plus lens, and not just camera body Hamish?

Just to be sure,...you can only use images from the one roll that you got (along with camera) for a tenner? What if you have enough of the tenner left over for another roll? Can you select from that roll, too?

yes mate ...
you can try taking a photo without a lens if you like ... i imagine it might come out a little soft ... ;)
maybe buy a camera body and then fashion a pin hole lens out of the body cap??
... you can even make your own camera ... As long as total spend is less than £10/$16 :)

jeeze ... you people like to make this complicated don you!

No, just one roll! :p

Well, whilst you lot have been having fun talking nonsense, i've been out looking for cameras

this one is a contender... unless i find anything better ;)

not sure though, lack of manual controls might be a bugger to get what i want
Olympus 35mm 2.8 lens though :)
£3 too which would mean id have enough spare cash to put a fancy roll of film through it!

oh, btw... im entering he compo too ...
If its being judged by everyone, i asume thats ok ...
obviously if i win (quite likely, lets face it .. HA!)
I dont get the prize (i already have one anyway)
