They have said they will credit me with taking the shot

Sounds ok to me, you keep the rights for use of the photo and get paid in the process

I just phoned them with my details and they will put the money in my paypal account then I mail them the image it all seems proper to me Not the first I've had published but the first I've been paid that sort of money for

Bingo now get yourself registered with DACS here
https://www.dacs.org.uk/

Probably best to read but it ensures payment for images used it's a long read but may be worth it in the long run..

I have to admit to not using it but being registered, just been to lazy to tell the truth, but it is recommended

It does apply to photographers although it doesn't look like it does it was recommended to me by a well published Architectural photographer

Well, it's non-exclusive and the fee seems OK to me especially as I guess you weren't marketing it. Chris might have a better idea about whether the fee is appropriate.

That's the way iLife to sell my photos. I provide rights for their use but I retain ownership for future potential uses. The fee sounds good to me too.

wow great new Dave, i bet your well chuffed i know i would be, congratulations

As far as i am concerned they can do what the hell they like with my image if they pay me that kinda money

congrats dave. sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

if it was a shadier company or an image that could be misconstrued then you might want to find out what they plan on using it for just to make sure it's something you approve of, but i think you're ok in this instance.

Dave - looks good to me - all the terms are there to allow you to use elsewhere, and 200 notes is a decent fee for a non-news shot (i.e. no celeb or current news content)

Congrats!!

I like Paypal payments because they are invisible to swmbo, and seem to dissipate immediately, followed days later by boxes being delivered by posty...

No idea how that happens! :D

Congrats, Dave.

I actually know someone at Cengage (I even did a little work for them in the past) and, although I came to this little party late, I was going to suggest it's a well-established firm and I could contact my friend if you had any questions. However, looks like it's a done deal! Great!

I was very happy about the way it was dealt with Brian it would seem that they first approached Getty's about licensing it but I have heard bad reports about Getty's which is why I have them turned off on Flickr which is why they contacted me directly
