Drawing Fruit

She is allowed her studies book in with her. The subject is 'exotic fruit'. I did introduce her to Billie Holliday singing, 'Strange Fruit', but she decided not to go down that route! She took photos when we were at Kew, and has developed abstracts from them. The final exam only amounts to a mere eight per cent of the total. Her studies and portfolio throughout the year make up the bulk of the marks. She has studied Marian North, Georgia O'Keef (spelling?) and others. Looks impressive to me. She seems to have a talent for botanical art, but that alone will not get her a good mark in an art exam, no matter how good, hence the abstracts, form and colour studies.

I'm happy to say that photography played an important part in her work this year. And she even managed to get the one-place-per-annum work-experience post at the Stills Gallery - first week of July, I think. Great for her development and also her CV.

Wonderful frame, Rob! Love her focus. The texture on the drawings, pages and the table complete the artist. :)

A-level? in Scotland? My daughter does her Higher Art on 5th June :)

I couldn't figure that out either, Davie, as all her other exams are Highers...

Good luck to your daughter! Rhona's going crazy with it all. Susan's going crazy with work stress. And I'm trying to stay out of their way!
