Inspired by Paul Strand's "From the El" shot in 1917.

Actually, it wasn't inspired by Strand, but I was inspired to post this old image by the "Inspired by Paul Strand" theme.

The building with the large shadow is the Drake Hotel in San Francisco. I shot the image from a nearby hotel where I was involved in a business meeting. So it's "From the hotEl."

Shot it with a Yashica Electro 35 GL. Can't remember what film.

Well done. Reminiscent of some of the shots from "Manhatta"

Just seen this, Brian. It looks vaguely familiar, especially that shadow. Have you uploaded it before? I like it a lot, and I can see why you placed it in the Strand strand, so to speak. Amazing to contemplate what business deals are going on behind all these windows.

Thanks, John. Its been a few years since I saw Manhatta but I think I recall a scene or two of time lapse with large shadows moving across tall buildings. Or maybe I'm thinking of some other motion picture. Nevertheless, your comment is much appreciated, John.

Works for me, Brian and I think that is a perfectly legitimate extension of the theme. I wonder whether you were driven purely by the aesthetic or whether, even sub-consciously' you were influence by having seen the work of Strand?
Thank you, Pete. It's a good question you pose. I'm not sure I was aware of Strand at the time I snapped this image, but that doesn't mean I couldn't have been influenced somehow by his work. Yes,...good question.

Thanks, Rob. Yes, I believe I uploaded it many moons ago.
